Barbecue Sauce Packed with a Punch Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1/2 onion, minced
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced (can substitute 1 tsp. Garlic powder)
  • 3/4 cup Jack Daniel's whiskey
  • 2 cups ketchup
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper
  • 1/3 cup vinegar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/3 cup white corn syrup
  • 1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce
  • 3/4 cup molasses
  • 3/4 teaspoon Salt
  • 1/4 cup tomato paste

  • Mix onion, garlic, and whiskey in saucepan and cook for about 9 minutes.
  • Remove from heat and flame mixture for about 20 seconds.
  • Add remaining ingredients. Bring to a boil, then turn down to low heat and simmer for about 15 minutes; stir continuously.
  • Allow sauce to sit and gain flavor for one (1) hour.
  • Reheat to thin sauce and run it through a medium strained to remove chunks of onion and garlic.
  • Store sauce in refrigerator; it improves with age.
  • The strained onion and garlic make a great chip dip.
Note: onion and garlic bits can be left in the sauce if you prefer the chunky style of sauce.
