Ingredients
1 cup butter
1 1/2 cups powdered sugar, divided
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 3/4 cups flour, sifted
1 cup finely chopped black walnuts
Dash of salt
Directions
Preheat oven to 350°. In a large bowl, cream together butter, 1/2 cup powdered sugar and vanilla. Add sifted flour, chopped walnuts and a dash of salt. Mix well. Form cookie dough into small 1/2" round balls and place on a lightly greased baking sheet. Press down each ball with thumb to make an indentation. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes, being careful not to over bake. Remove cookies from oven and let cool. Shake cooled cookies in remaining 1 cup powdered sugar, being careful not to fill thumbprints. Fill each cookie with 1/2 teaspoon frosting. Makes about 2 dozen.
