Ingredients
2 sticks butter
1 cup light or dark brown sugar
1 sleeve original saltines
1 package semi sweet chocolate chips
Directions
Preheat oven to 300°. Cover a large cookie sheet with foil. Cover the foiled cookie sheet with saltines in rows, leaving no open spaces. Melt butter and sugar in a saucepan, stirring until all sugar is dissolved. Once butter begins to rise to the top (caramelizing), pour evenly over saltines. (the saltines may float.) Place cookie sheet into the oven for approximately 8 to 10 minutes. When the entire sheet is bubbling, it's done. Immediately pour chocolate chips evenly over the the entire pan, gently spreading with a spatula. Additional toppings can be added such as white chocolate chips, dried cranberries or nuts; whatever you choose. Cool for a minimum of 1 hour. You can also put the entire cookie tray into the refrigerator. Break into pieces before serving.
