Ingredients

2 cups flour
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon, ground
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
1/2 cup Walnuts or Pecans, chopped, optional
1/2 cup butter or margarine
1 cup granulated sugar
2 Eggs
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
1 cup bananas, mashed
FROSTING:
2 cups sifted powdered sugar
1 banana, mashed
2 tablespoons butter, softened
1/2 teaspoon vanilla

Directions

Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Grease a cookie sheet.
Stir together flour, cinnamon, salt, baking powder, soda, cloves and nuts and set aside.
In a mixer bowl beat the butter and sugar for 30 seconds. Add eggs and vanilla. Beat well and add alternately dry ingredients. Add bananas one at a time. Beat well after each addition.
Drop from a teaspoon 2 inches apart onto a well-greased cookie sheet. Bake for 10-12 minutes. Remove from cookie sheet immediately and cool on a wire rack.
Cookies have a bread consistency so don't over bake. Frost cooled cookies with Banana Butter Frosting.
For Frosting, combine powdered sugar, mashed banana, butter and vanilla. If necessary, add additional powdered sugar to make a spreading consistency. Frost completely cooled cookies.

"I love banana bread so these cookies sounded good. They were nice and soft with great flavor. The frosting was OK but next time I think I will try a cream cheese frosting and add a mashed banana to that. Not sure how that will work but I suppose I will have to add a little more powdered sugar than what the recipe calls for."
