Lasagna with Italian Style Tomato Sauce Recipe

Ingredients
  • LASAGNA INGREDIENTS
  • 9 lasagna noodles
  • 3 cups mozzarella cheese
  • 1 carton ricotta or cottage cheese (24 ounce carton)
  • 2 cups grated parmesan cheese
  • 1 package sliced pepperoni
  • 1 1/2 pounds ground beef
  • 2 teaspoons seasoned salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • ITALIAN STYLE TOMATO SAUCE
  • 3 tablespoons oil
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 can tomato paste (6 ounce can)
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/8 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 teaspoon oregano
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 2 cups tomato juice
Directions
Blend all ingredients for the ITALIAN STYLE TOMATO SAUCE in a saucepan. Simmer over low heat for 8 to 10 minutes. Remove from heat and set aside. Crumble ground beef in a skillet, cook until no longer pink. Drain and mix in seasoned salt, pepper, garlic and onion powder. Cook lasagna noodles as directed on box, drain and rinse. In a baking dish, arrange a layer of 3 noodles and 1/2 of each; meat, cottage cheese, mozzarella cheese, pepperoni and Parmesan cheese. Repeat layers, ending with noodles. Pour ITALIAN STYLE TOMATO SAUCE over layers. Bake at 350° for 45 minutes or until bubbly.
