Mock Apple Pie Recipe

This pie tastes like apple pie only it has no apples.

Ingredients
  • 2 cups water
  • 1 1/4 cups sugar
  • 2 teaspoons cream of tartar
  • 24 Ritz crackers, crumbled
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1 unbaked pie shell
  • Butter
  • Cinnamon

  • Put water and sugar in a large saucepan and cook 2 minutes. Remove from heat and add cream of tartar, lemon juice and crumbled Ritz crackers. Do not stir.
  • Mash down after the crackers have absorbed all the water.
  • Place back on the stove and cook 1 minute.
  • Pour into unbaked pie shell. Dot with butter and cinnamon.
  • Place in a 450 degree oven and cook 15-25 minutes.
