HEIROOM FRUITCAKE Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1 pound butter
  • 1 pound sugar (2 cup)
  • 1 pound flour (4 cup)
  • 1 pound raisins (white)
  • 1 1/2 pounds citron
  • 1 pound nuts
  • 1/2 pound cherries
  • 1/4 teaspoon cloves
  • 1/2 pound candied pineapple, diced
  • 1/2 pound candied orange peel, diced
  • 1 pound currants
  • 10 eggs
  • 1 tablespoon cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon allspice
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
Directions
Mix all ingredients together by hand in a large bowl until all sticks together. Pour into pans (any kind). Makes a large ring (mold) type or several loaf cakes. Bake in a slow oven for 2 1/2 or 3 hours. When cool pour whiskey or wine over the cakes. Cover with foil for storing. If extended period of time, add whiskey or wine again later for added moisture and flavor. Dark, moist and delicious!
