Combine sugar, salad oil, eggs, and vanilla; best until light and smooth. Stir in melted chocolate squares. Add flour and salt to chocolate mixture. Beat until smooth. Add nuts (optional). Spread in greased 9 x 13 inch pan. Bake at 350 degrees for about 30 minutes. While warm, cut with plastic knife. Cool completely before removing from pan.
*The brownies are rich and fudge-y. They make their own "frosting" as they bake.
