In medium mixing bowl, combine butter and sugars. Using an electric mixer on medium or high speed, cream until light and fluffy.
Add egg and vanilla and beat well.
Sift together the flour and salt. Add to the butter mixture. Mix until well combined.
Stir in the chocolate chips.
Place heaping teaspoonfuls in the prepared baking sheets, spacing them 2 inches apart. Bake for 8-10 minutes.
Allow to cool on the baking sheets for about 5 minutes, then transfer to wire racks to cool completely.
