Banana Drop Cookies Recipe

Soft and tasty cookies that are full of banana flavor. With bananas in the frosting you get a burst of flavor with every bite.

Ingredients
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon, ground
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/2 cup Walnuts or Pecans, chopped, optional
  • 1/2 cup butter or margarine
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 Eggs
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 cup bananas, mashed
  • FROSTING:
  • 2 cups sifted powdered sugar
  • 1 banana, mashed
  • 2 tablespoons butter, softened
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
Directions
  • Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Grease a cookie sheet.
  • Stir together flour, cinnamon, salt, baking powder, soda, cloves and nuts and set aside.
  • In a mixer bowl beat the butter and sugar for 30 seconds. Add eggs and vanilla. Beat well and add alternately dry ingredients. Add bananas one at a time. Beat well after each addition.
  • Drop from a teaspoon 2 inches apart onto a well-greased cookie sheet. Bake for 10-12 minutes. Remove from cookie sheet immediately and cool on a wire rack.
  • Cookies have a bread consistency so don't over bake. Frost cooled cookies with Banana Butter Frosting.
  • For Frosting, combine powdered sugar, mashed banana, butter and vanilla. If necessary, add additional powdered sugar to make a spreading consistency. Frost completely cooled cookies.

"I love banana bread so these cookies sounded good. They were nice and soft with great flavor. The frosting was OK but next time I think I will try a cream cheese frosting and add a mashed banana to that. Not sure how that will work but I suppose I will have to add a little more powdered sugar than what the recipe calls for."
