Chocolate Chip Cookies (Frontier Pies) Recipe

A big old batch of chewy chocolate chip cookies. The secret ingredient is a touch of vinegar to make it extra special. You can buy colored chocolate chips now to make them seasonal.

Ingredients
  • 3 1/4 cups brown sugar
  • 3 1/4 cups white sugar
  • 1 1/4 cups butter, softened
  • 1 1/4 cups butter-flavored Crisco
  • 5 eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 1 teaspoon vinegar
  • 2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 8 1/2 cups flour
  • 4 cups chocolate chips

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

Beat sugars, margarine, shortening, eggs, vanilla and vinegar until creamy. Don't over mix.

Combine baking soda, salt and flour and add to creamed mixture. Stir in chocolate chips.

Form into balls using medium size cookie scoop and drop onto cookie sheet. Bake for 10-12 minutes until done but not brown.

Cool and enjoy.

NOTE: The trick is to not cook them too much. They are better when they are chewy. Take them out of the oven before they brown.
