Fresh Apple Cookies Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1/2 cup butter flavor Crisco
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1 egg
  • 2 teaspoons Vanilla
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 apple, peeled and very finely chopped (large)
Directions
In a mixing bowl, cream shortening and sugars with egg. Add vanilla and mix well. Add flour which has been mixed with baking powder, baking soda, and salt; stir. Add chopped apples and mix well. Form into balls and roll in a mixture of:

1 tsp. ground cinnamon

1/4 tsp. ground nutmeg

4 T. granulated sugar

Place cookies on greased cookie sheet and bake for 10 to 12 minutes at 350°.

Makes about 3 dozen.
