Mix together 1 1/2 flour and yeast in a bowl. On stove heat milk, 1/4 c butter, 1/4 c water, and sugar to lukewarm. You do not want this to boil or you will kill the yeast. If it gets to warm, let it cool before adding.
Combine the flour mixture with the milk mixture. Add egg and salt. Beat on high for 3 minutes. By hand add 1 1/3 c flour. Cover with a towel, let rise for 30 minutes in a warm spot.
Heat butter, brown sugar, 1 Tbsp water, corn syrup, cinnamon, and nuts on stove until melted. Pour in a 9x13 pan (glass is best).
Stir down batter. Drop by large Tbsp spoonfuls onto topping.
Bake @ 375 degrees for 15 minutes. Let cook for 5 minutes then invert onto a serving dish. Let cool another 10-15 minutes before eating.
