Blender Wheat Rolls Recipe

Ingredients
  • 4 cups water
  • 2 cups whole wheat kernels (wheat berries)
  • 1 tablespoon yeast
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 4 tablespoons sugar
  • 6 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 5 teaspoons salt
  • 3/4 cup Powdered Milk (if 3/4 cup = 1 quart reconstituted)
  • 8 cups flour
Directions
Depending on the strength of your blender, you may need to start by letting the wheat kernels/berries soak in 4 cups of water overnight. Blend thoroughly. In a large plastic bowl, add yeast to 1/4 cup water and 2 T sugar. Let sit 5 minutes. Pour in mixture from blender. Stir with wooden spoon. Add sugar, oil, and salt. Mix powdered milk with 1 cup flour (to prevent it from clumping) then add to mixture. Add remaining flour one cup at a time until you can no longer stir with the wooden spoon. Then start kneading the dough with your hands. (If you have a big enough bowl, you don't have to make a mess on your counter.) Add enough flour to make a soft dough. let rise for 1 - 2 hours. Form into rolls. Let sit 20 minutes, then bake at 375° for 20 - 25 minutes. Makes 3 dozen large rolls.
