  • If fresh shrimp are to be served, devein and wash shrimp. Approximately 16 ounces (1 pound) of fresh large shrimp will be required which should provide approximately 24 to 30 shrimp.
  • If frozen shrimp are to be served, thaw and rinse shrimp under cold water. Preheat oven on broil setting.
  • Lightly spray or grease broiling pan.
  • Cut each slice of bacon in half. Wrap a cut slice of bacon around each shrimp. To hold bacon in place, insert a toothpick through the wrapped bacon and shrimp.
  • When all shrimp are wrapped with bacon, place each one evenly spaced on the broiling pan. Place pan in oven approximately 3 inches below the top broiling element.
  • Broil on one side for approximately 5 minutes. Remove from oven and turn each wrapped shrimp over. Return to oven and continue broiling for an additional 5 minutes until bacon is crisp and shrimp become bright orange in color or firm to the touch.
  • During final 5 minutes of broiling, watch appetizers to prevent burning or becoming too done. Be cautious not to overcook which will make shrimp too firm in texture.
  • Serve warm and if desired, provide a dipping sauce such as shrimp cocktail.
