Swiss and Cheddar Beer Bread Recipe

This easy beer bread is simple to make but very flavorful. Its coarse texture makes it perfect for dunking in chili, soup or your favorite stew.

Ingredients
  • 3 cups flour
  • 3 tablespoons sugar
  • 3 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 can beer - 12 oz.
  • 1/2 cup shredded Swiss cheese
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 2 tablespoons butter - melted
Container:4 x 8 or 5 x 9 loaf pan

  • Preheat oven to 375° F. Grease bottom and sides of loaf pan.
  • In a large bowl add the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and pepper.
  • Add the beer to the dry ingredients. Stir just until moistened. Fold the cheese into the batter.
  • Pour the batter into the greased loaf pan and drizzle the melted butter over the top. Bake in preheated oven for 50 - 60 minutes or until a toothpick poked in the center comes out clean.
  • Remove from the oven and allow to cool for 10 minutes in the pan before removing. Place on a wire rack and allow to cool completely.
