Ingredients
  • 1 bunch broccoli
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic salt, or to desired taste
Directions
  • Preheat oven to 375° F (350° F for a 12" Dutch oven).
  • Cut broccoli florets leaving a portion of the stem with each floret. Place in baking dish or 12" Dutch oven.
  • Coat broccoli with olive oil and sprinkle with garlic salt. Place the cover on the baking dish or cover with foil.
  • Place covered dish in the oven and cook for 20-30 minutes. Check for doneness after 15 minutes to be sure you do not overcook the broccoli. It should be crisp-tender when done. Cooking time will vary depending on the amount of broccoli and your personal taste.
  • Remove from heat and transfer to serving dish.
NOTE: This is the easiest side dish to make and I have people devouring large quantities who say they would never touch broccoli. Be sure when you are adding the garlic salt to use your own judgment on how much to use. That will also depend on how much broccoli you are actually preparing.

"micherrera, I appreciate your comments in regard to this recipe. I am not sure why it was calling for 2 tablespoons of garlic salt because as you indicated that was too much garlic salt for this recipe. I have edited the ingredients in this recipe as well as made some changes to the instructions. I hope you will find the recipe more of a success the next time you make it with the new direction. It truly is a simple and tasty way to prepare broccoli. I hope you will give it a try again and thank you for bringing these issues to our attention."

"Oh dear! As a beginning cook I followed the recipe exactly - what a mistake! I learned do NOT put 2 TABLESPOONS of garlic salt over the broccoli! Maybe 1 teaspoon at the most. It cooked up mushy in 25 minutes so next time I will only cook it for 10 minutes. I didn't know you could bake broccoli in the oven so I'm glad I learned a new way to prepare it - but please just use a pinch of garlic salt!"

"I cannot believe how easy this was! I used a bag of frozen broccoli, too! This tasted like broccoli you'd get a restaurant. Seasoned to perfection."
