A utensil used to remove the foil covering from the spout of wine bottles. Often carried in the pockets of restaurant sommeliers, the Foil Cutter helps to ease the removal of the cork, enabling a slit to be cut into the foil as the Cutter is rotated around the bottle spout. When the foil is fully slit it can be easily removed, rather than attempting to use finger nails or other cumbersome utensils to pry the foil away from the top of the bottle. Once the foil is cut, the cork is exposed and ready to be removed with a cork screw. Foil Cutters may be individual tools used specifically for this task or they may be part of a combination cork screw and Cutter utensil. |
