A type of flat bread, made with whole-wheat that probably originated in Egypt, but gradually became popular throughout the Middle East. The bread is baked into a round, flat shape. The diameter is usually smaller than pita bread, but the bread is slightly thicker. It is known by a variety of names depending on the country in which the bread is available.
