A leaf growing from the Neem plant that is native to Asia and East India where it is used to flavor foods. Grown for spirtual, medicinal and flavoring qualities, the Neem plant has been used for centuries by people believing it contains numerous benefits. However, when used in foods the young and tender Neem leaves are prepared stir-fried or steamed to be added to a variety of food dishes. Neem leaves are grown as both a sweet or bitter leaf, but it is the sweet leaf that is used as an ingredient in foods and not the bitter leaf. |
