Stanser Cheese
Made in and around the area of Nidwalden, a canton in Switzerland, Stanser is a cheese produced in the central region of this nation. Made from sheep's milk, this cheese is firm in texture with a slightly nutty and somewhat grassy flavor. The cheese provides a good paste to serve with meats, crackers, bread, and wine. Also referred to as Stans or Stanser Käse, the name is derived from käse being the Swiss word for cheese and Stans being the town that is the capital of Nidwalden.
