Shortcake  
A cake or biscuit that is most often served as a dessert food but can also be served with savory fillings. Strawberry shortcake is one of the most common desserts using this type of biscuit that is cut in half and filled with whipped cream and strawberries. Shortcake can have a sweet or somewhat bland flavor, depending on the ingredients added to the dough. For the dessert cake, berries and pieces of fruit are often added between the two halfs of the cake biscuit. As a savory dish, poultry and other meats are generally added to a sauce which is then served over the shortcake bottom half with the top added over the mixture.
