A kitchen utensil that is best used for beating and mixing ingredients in pans or dishes containing lower sides. The flat whisk can be easily bent to conform to the flat or rounded shape of a pan in order to stir or mix ingredients collecting on the bottom or sides of the pan. It can be used effectively to deglaze, remove meat drippings and mix other types of light ingredients that need occasional stirring or scraping motions. When selecting, make sure the whisk has a sealed surface where the wires enter the handle, to keep food from accumulating in hard to clean areas. This type of whisk may also be referred to as a roux or sauce whisk. |
