A bread that is a crusty yeast loaf prepared with water mixed into the dough instead of milk. It is almost identical to French bread. The main difference between the two is the shape. Unlike the long slender shape that is common with French bread, Italian bread may be baked in shorter, wider loaves or it may be formed into rounds and ovals.
