A stewing method used when the natural flavor from all the ingredients is desired rather than the flavor from the browning of the meat. All the ingredients and liquid called for in the recipe are added to the pot at the start of cooking. Generally the liquid is brought to a boil and then the pot is covered and cooking continues on the stovetop or in the oven.
