Open Face  
A hot or cold sandwich that consists of only one slice of bread topped with one or more ingredients, such as meat, fish, eggs, cheese, vegetables, olives, pickles, and/or a sauce. Although cold open-face sandwiches are more common than hot sandwiches, there are numerous types of hot open-faced sandwiches which generally consist of roasted vegetables, meat or fish topped with a warm sauce, a gravy or melted cheese.
