Grease bottom of one large loaf pan. Cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs on at a time, beating well. Mix in the self-rising flour. Stir in whole wheat flour. Mix well. Then fold in the bananas and vanilla and nuts. Pour into pan.
Bake on low bottom rack until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean about 1 hour on 350
Optional: You can roll the warm loaf of bread in white sugar, too!
