Barbie Doll Cake - Recipe

Since the pyrex cake is a little short, 8-inch rounds are used to make the "skirt" longer to fit the Barbie in. A smaller Barbie could also be used for a small cake. Fun cake for kids to help in the process of decorating and picking out their favorite colors for the frosting.

Directions
  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease and flour a 2-quart ovenproof Pyrex glass mixing bowl and 2 8-inch round cake pans.
  • Prepare cakes as directed on box. Pour batter into prepared bowl and cake pans.
  • Bake pyrex bowl 50-60 minutes or until cake tester inserted into center comes out clean. Cool 15 minutes.
  • Bake round cake pans 30-35 minutes or until cake tester inserted into center comes out clean. Cool 15 minutes.
  • Remove cakes from pans and cool at least 3 hours before decorating.
  • Invert one cake from round pan onto cake plate. Frost top of cake and top with other round cake. Top with frosting. Invert pyrex cake, with widest part of cake on the bottom, onto cake rounds, leveling if necesary.
  • Wrap a clean baribie dolls legs with plastic wrap. Insert the barbie doll into center of cake. Decorate the skirt with icing tinted any color or use more than one color. Use a decorator tip to make the skirt as fancy as you like and decorate the top of the doll for the top of the dress also.
