Cranberry Spiced Rum - Recipe

This cocktail is delicious and can easily quench a crowd. It will be perfect at your next holiday party. Omit the rum for a non-alcoholic version that everyone can enjoy. The aroma from the syrup will make your home smell pleasing for the festivities.

Directions
  • In a small saucpan, combine orange zest, cinnamon sticks, cloves, ginger, water, and sugar over medium heat. Bring to a boil, stirring until the sugar has completely dissolved.
  • Reduce the heat, cover and simmer for 5 minutes. Remove from the heat, uncover and let stand for 1 hour.
  • Strain through a fine-mesh sieve into a punch bowl, discarding the solids.
  • Add the remaining ingredients to the spiced syrup and stir. Add an ice ring before serving.

-2 sticks cinnamon
-5 whole cloves
-3 tablespoons fresh ginger - peeled and finely chopped
-1/3 cup water
-1/3 cup sugar
-3 cups sparkling cider - chilled
-4 cups cranberry juice - chilled
-1 litre club soda
-1 cup dark rum
