| Directions |
- Combine cornmeal, flour, baking powder, vanilla, baking soda, and salt.
- Stir in buttermilk, egg, and onion.
- Heat oil in fryer to 375 degrees F. Drop batter by tablespoons a few at a time until golden brown, about 2 to 3 minutes.
- Remove from oil and drain on paper towels.
