Directions
BARS:
  • Cream the butter and sugar; beat till fluffy.
  • Beat in the eggs and vanilla.
  • Add the flour and salt; then blend in the nuts.
  • Divide the dough in half. Add the melted chocolate to half the dough.
  • Spread the white dough in a 9- x 13-inch cake pan.
  • Spread the chocolate dough on top of the white dough.
  • Bake 30 minutes at 350ºF. Cool in the pan.
FROSTING:
  • In a heavy saucepan, blend the flour and milk. Cook over low heat, stirring constantly until a paste forms. Cool thoroughly.
  • Cream the butter, sugar, and vanilla. Gradually add this mixture to the flour paste mixture and beat at high speed for about 5 minutes or until creamy.
  • Frost the bars after they have cooled.
