| Directions |
- Mix together with pastry cutter.
- Add 1 egg yolk, plus milk to make 2/3 cup.
- Roll 1/2 of dough out to fit bottom of jelly roll pan.
- Crumble two handfuls of cornflakes or wheaties on crust.
- Add thick layer of thinly sliced apples.
- Sprinkle 3/4 to 1 cup sugar over apples.
- Sprinkle cinnamon and nutmeg on top.
- Add thin slices of butter.
- Roll out remaining dough for top crust.
- Seal edges and brush with beaten egg whites.
- Cut slits in top crust.
- Bake at 375° F. for 1 hr.
- While still warm, make a thin powdered sugar frosting using almond extract and spread on top.
- Tip: For 9 inch apple pie, use Pillsbury pie crust found in refrigerator section.
