Stir together flour, sugar, baking powder, soda and nutmeg. Cut in butter. Combine and stir in milk and egg. Stir just until dough holds together. Roll out on lightly floured surface to 1/8 inch thick. Cut into desired shapes. Bake on medium hot griddle, browning each side.
Yield: about 2 1/2 dozen cookies.
