| Directions | Place 2 C. sugar and the milk in a large saucepan; cook slowly and stir often. At the same time, put the other cup of sugar in another saucepan on low heat; stir until the sugar is melted. Pour the liquid sugar slowly into the milk mixture that should be ready to boil; stir while adding. Cook slowly until a firm ball will form when dropped into cold water (238°). Remove from heat; add vanilla and butter and then pecans. Beat or stir until this begins to thicken. Drop by spoonfuls of desired size onto wax paper. They should set up immediately. |
