Beat butter at medium speed with an electric mixer until creamy; gradually add sugar, beating well. Combine flour, soda, salt and oats; add to butter mixture, mixing well. Press half of crumb mixture into a greased 9" X 13" baking dish. Spread raspberry preserves over crumb mixture. Sprinkle remaining half of crumb mixture over preserves. Bake at 400° for 20 minutes. Cool on a wire rack; cut into bars.
* I make a glaze of powdered sugar, milk and vanilla to drizzle over the tops... approximately 1 cup powdered sugar, 2 T milk and some vanilla.
