| Directions | Add all the ingredients together except for the ketchup and brown sugar. Mix the ingredients by hand until everything is well blended. Place this mixture in a loaf pan and pat down firmly. Use your finger and poke holes all over down into the meat, approximately 1 inch apart. Pour ketchup over the top; make a thick layer of ketchup, between 1/8 and 1/4 inch thick. Sprinkle a heavy coating of brown sugar over the ketchup; add at least 1/2 cup of brown sugar, making sure all the ketchup is covered. Place in an oven preheated to 350 degrees. Bake for 1 to 1 1/2 hours. I generally bake it for 1 1/2 hours because I like it a little drier and I am usually baking potatoes at the same time. Remove from the pan when done and cut in 1/2 inch thick slices to serve. |
