| Directions | CAKE:
- Place the shortening, brown sugar, white sugar, applesauce and soda water in a mixer and mix until well blended.
- Then add the flour, cinnamon and allspice.
- Mix well to combine.
- Pour into a 9x13 baking pan that has been sprayed with non stick cooking spray.
- Bake in a preheated 350° F. oven for 20-23 minutes or until the cake starts to pull away from the pan and a toothpick inserted into the middle comes out clean.
- Remove from oven and allow to cool completely on a wire rack.
FROSTING:
- Melt the butter in a saucepan over medium heat.
- Add the brown sugar and milk and boil over low heat for two minutes. Stir continuously.
- Remove from the heat and allow the mixture to cool to luke warm.
- Then mix in the powdered sugar until it is thick enough to spread.
- When the cake is cool, spread frosting over the entire cake and allow it to cool completely and set.
