Sift or stir together flour, baking powder, salt and sugar. Melt and cool the butter or margarine. Beat egg whites at high speed until stiff but still moist. Beat egg yolks in separate bowl at medium speed about a minute and then add the milk. Add dry ingredients. Beat on medium speed until blended. Scrape bowl while beating. Add melted and cooled butter. Beat in only until blended. Fold in egg whites on low speed or by hand.
Bake in preheated waffle maker.
Makes 4 full size (four-section) or 8 smaller waffles.
