| Directions | - Wash rhubarb stalks to clean thoroughly. Chop stalks into small pieces.
- Wash strawberries. Remove stem and chop into pieces.
- Add rhubarb to large sauce pan and pour in water. Cook over medium high heat until water begins to boil and then reduce heat to medium setting. Add sugar and continue cooking about 10 minutes or until rhubarb is tender.
- Add strawberries, reduce heat setting to low and cook an additional 10 minutes or until strawberries are soft.
- Add food coloring if a deeper red color is desired.
- Remove from heat and allow sauce to cool. Refrigerate until ready to serve.
- This sauce can be served as a dessert if desired and can be garnished with a whipped topping.
