Charoset - Recipe

A traditional recipe that can be served as a side dish, a condiment for game and other roasted meats, or added as a topping for crackers and cheese. Charoset is a popular food served during Passover.

Directions
  • In large bowl, combine chopped apples, lemon juice, chopped walnuts, and raisins. Stir all ingredients together.
  • Add ginger, nutmeg, cinnamon, sugar and wine or grape juice. Mix together.
  • Cover and refrigerate to chill for 6 to 8 hours prior to serving.
  • Makes approximately 4 cups.
  • Note: Select apples such as Gala, Fuji or Braeburn. Red wines such as Malaga, Concord grape, ruby port or similar semi-sweet to sweet varieties can be selected. As a non-alcohol option, use white grape juice.
