| Directions |
- Prepare the cake according to package directions. Cool on a wire rack.
- When completely cooled, pour the gelatin in a small bowl and add the boiling water; stir until dissolved. Stir in the cold water.
- Using a wooden skewer, poke holes in the cooled cake. Make the holes about 1 1/2 inches apart throughout the cake.
- Carefully pour the gelatin into the holes, trying to distribute as evenly as possible. Refrigerate for 2 hours before frosting.
FROSTING:
- Cream the butter until light and fluffy. Mix in the powdered sugar, cocoa, milk, and vanilla; beat until creamy and smooth.
- Spread the frosting evenly over the top of the cake. Decorate with candy corn, candy pumpkins or other Halloween candy you feel is appropriate. Sprinkle frosting with sprinkles or colored sugar if desired.
- Store covered in the refrigerator.
