Make the dressing and set aside. In a skillet over medium heat stir the almonds and the sugar together, stir for 5 minutes until the sugar coats the nuts, and are slightly browned.
In a large bowl add the lettuce, celery, chives, the fruit and the sugared nuts. Top with the dressing and serve immediately.
