In a medium bowl, cream together 1/2 cup brown sugar and softened butter. Sift dry ingredients in a separate bowl. Add raisins to flour mixture and toss together. Mix flour mixture, creamed sugar and butter with milk. In a 9x9" baking pan, put remaining brown sugar and boiling water. Stir to dissolve the sugar. Drop the batter in center and bake 25-30 minutes at 350 degrees F. Serve warm. |
