Mustard paste is a condiment prepared by mixing ground mustard seeds with vinegar, chilies and salt. Grinding the mustard seeds into a powder and adding water and spices during grinding creates the paste. The temperature of the water determines the strength of the mustard paste. Colder water produces a hotter taste while the hotter water produces a more mild flavor. This paste is common in Indian cooking and can be served as a salad dressing or served with meat, fish and poultry.
