A type of dumpling-like noodle dish in which the dumplings are filled with various ingredients, such as ground meats or cheese. Sometimes even mashed potatoes are used. The dumplings are boiled and are then added to soups. They are similar to the Italian dish, ravioli, and the Chinese specialty, wontons. Kreplachs are most often served on various Jewish holiday observances, such as Hoshannah Rabbah, Purim, or the day before Yom Kippur.
