A lighter textured and more fluid soup that is used as a flavoring for food dishes or as an ingredient in a variety of different soup-based recipes, such as French Onion Soup. Made with bits of onion cooked in a beef stock that is combined with flavorings and other ingredients, Onion Soup is used as a base sauce for meat and poultry casseroles or served as a luncheon and dinner soup to accompany other foods. It may also be used as an ingredient for making onion flavored, creamy dips to serve with snacks.
