Much like other varieties of cream-based soups, Cream of Mushroom is a thick soup that is commonly used as an ingredient for recipes. Cream of Mushroom soup is made with either cream or milk, bits of mushrooms and onions, chicken broth, seasonings, and possibly a few pieces of celery. When eaten as a soup it is a hearty and filling meal. However, it is most often used as a base for casseroles (such as rice dishes or green bean casserole), homemade soups, and various savory sauces.
