A common Jamacian salad green grown from the taro root. Used in a manner similar to lettuce, Callaloo is prepared for use in salads, soups, and side dishes. It is often compared in appearance to spinach greens and if cooked is prepared like collard greens for serving. Inhabitants of the eastern regions within the Carribean use Callaloo as a term to describe the young shoots or leaves from the dasheen plant.
