Also known as: Muscadet, Melon, and Melon de Bourgogne (proper name).
Characteristics: Produces light, clean, dry white wines that are tangy, crisp, refreshing, earthy and minerally. Lower quality Muscadet tends to be acidic and thin.
Ageing: Most Muscadet’s should be consumed young; exception is Muscadet’s labeled Sur Lie which can age for several years.
Serving temperature: Serve at a temperature of 50º-55º F.
Food pairing: Sushi with hirame or sole (melon Muscadet), oysters (melon Muscadet), spinach, poultry, and salads.
