Pronounced foo-mae-blahngk. The term used in the United States when referring to the Savignon Blanc grape varietal. The Sauvignon Blanc varietal was marketed by the Robert Mondavi Winery in Napa Valley, California as Fumé Blanc. It is now the 2nd most popular white wine grape in California (U.S.), Chardonnay being the most popular.

Characteristics: Those wines labeled Fumé Blanc, from California, are dry and oaky versions of Sauvignon Blanc.

Serving temperature: Serve at a temperature of 40º-45º F.

Food pairings: Appetizers, mild cheeses, pasta, poultry, light seafood, and shellfish.
